Sleepless in Seattle? Revisit the gay bars!

You’re in Seattle and don’t know what to do during liquid rain (Seattle term for constant weather changes) – that’s the perfect chance to explore the city’s many gay bars!

Eponymous R Place is located on the corner of East Pine Street and Boylston Avenue. It has a lot of mixed crowds (20-something, 30-something, older guys, gay guys and their best girlfriends…) and drag performances, karaoke nights, as well as pool tables. Mix it all with happy hour and you get a cocktail of wild night out!

If you and your man want to visit a manlier place, the Cuff Complex will serve that purpose; it has predominantly male visitors, bears and muscle guys. With country western scenery, karaoke, happy hours and outdoor patio, the Cuff Complex is a perfect venue for an all-nighter! They also have, from time to time, special events like Halloween parties.

Not interested in wild parties and rubbing against lean muscle guys? Yeah, we get that – sometimes you just want to have a quiet night in a bar with you drink. Madison pub (1315 E Madison St) is the place you’re looking for: it has a friendly, traditional bar atmosphere, cocktails, beer and wine to die for, pool tables and darts, video games and jukeboxes… It offers a lot of trivia games, so you will have plenty of opportunities to meet new faces and get some new friends.

Still not satisfied? Well, you’re a man of taste, then, and want something genuine, local, and authentic – and we have just that. Changes (in Wallingford) has been described as gay Cheers. It has been owned by the same person for a long time, has friendly staff and gathers local gay scene, Changes is also well known for its dinner specials.

It’s a bit difficult to categorize Diesel bar – it’s part bear club, part great bar, part something unique to Seattle. Everyone who’s ever been there speaks of their hospitality, unique feeling of welcome, warmth and acceptance. Definitely a place to visit!

Honorable mention: Unicorn is not a gay bar per se, but it offers fantastic food, one of a kind décor and alternative music scene. Worth a visit if you want to have fun!
