We’re sure that there is a special place reserved somewhere for people who perform the so-called “gay conversion therapy” (proper upbringing prevents us from using harsher words, but you get the point). But there’s a good news – the city of Seattle just banned gay conversion therapy on its premises!
Last Monday, the City council unanimously to ban all sorts of gay conversion therapy; there will be a $1.000 fine for all those who are caught practicing it, and a misdemeanor charge for advertising such a therapy. The fine might not be huge, but it’s still a step in the right direction!
Mental health counselor Ann Lazaroff, who testified during the meeting of the Civil Rights, Utilities, Economic Development and Arts Committee, stated: “This idea that a child needs to be changed from who they innately are is ludicrous and it contributes to the stigma that’s attached to being LGBT.“
