It seems that Westboro Baptist Church, a mini church dedicated to its wayward, anti-gay, anti-US ways, can’t have a break. After LGBT center was opened right across the church a few years ago, its members were treated with a full blown drag show which included Wizard of Oz and every other drag show you can imagine.
But occasionally Westboro comes into spotlight for entirely unintended positive effects. A lot of people, gay or straight, love to take pictures outside of church kissing or holding their own signs. This time, it was Ryan Zamo, the CEO of Z Skin Cosmetics (gay owned cosmetics company) who made a picture of himself and his partner kissed just outside of church grounds.
He stated: “It really didn’t bother me that much. We thought it was actually funny that it was becoming so popular, but neither my fiancé nor I are the types to retaliate, it wasn’t anything to be up in arms about.”
However, Westboro Church decided to share the picture online, thinking it would cause a negative campaign against gay couples. What happened is that it went viral, boosting the sales of Z Skin Cosmetics. Be careful, Westboro, you’re doing our work for us!
