Thinking about visiting Italy? That’s always a good idea – the country is warm even during winter (it was 26C when my husband and myself traveled to Rome in November) and offers so much opportunities. You can find a perfect travel mate who’ll show you the sights at YEC.com! But Italy offers so much that you might get confused once you get to Rome – but here’re a few helpful advice!
Pizza Bianca VS Pizza Rosa
Don’t be surprised by the apparent lack of pizzas – in Rome, you have pizza Bianca and pizza Rosa. Of course, you’ll find a few hundred varieties, but those are the two basic: Bianca (white) is with olive oil, rosemary and garlic, while Rosa is with tomato sauce. Be careful what you order – you’ll get exactly what you asked for!
Vino de la Casa
If you’re not a connoisseur like my husband, it’s best to order VINO DE LA CASA. That means house wine and it’s always something affordable but very tasty – and everyone around you are probably drinking just that.
Chicken leg + chicken wing
When you order a chicken leg, it is served together with chicken wing – at first I was baffled because I wanted a light meal, not a mountain of poultry on my plate. But hey, Italians roll that way.
Italian siesta – riposo
Italians love to take a break after lunch – they love it so much that you’ll see shops and cafés closing down for an afternoon break. Don’t be alarmed, it’s just riposo – Italian version of siesta!
