We all love the young YouTube star Troye Silvan (some might remember him from the movie series Spud or because he played a young Wolverine in some X-Men movies). Troye recently came out and shared his thoughts about the the whole thing with the world.
“Being a gay guy myself, I have such vivid memories of the few times I saw any type of LGBTQ relationship on TV or in music videos. I also didn’t really have a choice because it’s like, I’m out and I’m not going to put a girl in my video — it’s a love song. But that’s sort of underplaying it a little (too). I did see an opportunity to try and make change.”
“My fans tend to be anywhere from like 15 to 22 and they’re the coolest most open-minded, smart, funny people. I’m so lucky to have them in my life. We did a show in Oklahoma City and went out afterwards to the one “gay-ish” bar there. A bunch of people came from the show and we all just hung out. I felt like I was with a bunch of friends.”
“I definitely value my privacy and sharing things on my own terms. I have nothing in my life that I’m ashamed of, but (I like) to keep some element of privacy. It’s a learning curve. The thing that’s weird about the situation is there’s no one to teach you how to do all this stuff. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do this. So I’m just feeling it out.“
