Way back in 2007, J.K. Rowling told the world that Albus Dumbledore, the beloved late headmaster of Hogwarts was gay. It caused quite a stir back in the days from both sides – those in favor were complaining that Dumbledore’s sexuality wasn’t even hinted at during the first movie series, and that it’s just “pinkwashing” of the character.
Apparently, Albus fell in love with Gellert Grindelwald, who later went on to become one of the dark wizards and menaces of the Muggle and wizarding communities. The tragic love story wasn’t really developed (anywhere), but there might be a chance to see the character get the proper recognition: the new movies!
“Fantastic beasts and where to find them” is just the first in the proposed new series – which will consist of seven movies!
She stated, when asked about the possibility: “Well, I’m very comfortable with the question. I would like to say because this is obviously a five-part story, there’s lots to unpack in that relationship. You will see Dumbledore as a younger man and quite a troubled man. We’ll see him at that formative period of his life. As far as his sexuality is concerned watch this space.”
