Have you ever written a letter to Santa? We’re sure you did it when you were a kid; but Jim Glaub, who used to live in Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, has been getting letters to Santa for years. Jim married Dylan Parker after a couple of years, and he admittedly never paid much attention to these letters – they were obviously a mistake.
Jim noticed a couple of letters each year, and he stated that previous tenants have been getting them too. “They never answered them because it was only three or four letters a year. And the first two years I lived there, it was that exact thing. I’d get three letters and I didn’t really think anything of it. I was like, ‘Oh, sorry — wrong number.”
But in 2010 everything changed – they got a stack of almost 450 letters! All the letters were from New York children who asked Santa for clothing, food and some help for their parents. It was, in a word, heartbreaking.
Jim was all like: ““If we bring them back to the post office, are all the kids getting a letter back with ‘Return to Sender’? I don’t want that to happen.”
Happy couple founded a Facebook group called “Miracle on 22nd street” in order to be able to answer all these letters! Even though Glaub and Parker relocated across the pond to London, they asked the new tenants to forward the letters to them! How cool is that?
