We’re quite used to New Zealand giving us hot guys (not to mention beautiful landscapes – yec.com can help you get there) – and the annual Mr Gay New Zealand competition is heating up. Cody Jarvie is one of the ten finalists!
Cody is a 25-year-old bartender that comes from Rotue (yeah, we haven’t heard of it either) and he wants to focus his efforts as (possible) Mr Gay New Zealand towards LGBT homeless people. The producers of the contest declared that “this isn’t a beauty contest, it’s about community outreach, engagement, about mana, public speaking and the finalists’ leadership skills.”
The finalists have to state which topic they will be dealing with when they become Mr Gay. “It’s something I feel strongly about and it’s a growing epidemic“, Cody stated about LGBT homelessness. “We have a small LGBT community in Rotorua but we have a big heart. I want to get Rotorua to back me as much as I can. I hope that it gives others the confidence to enter.”
